What's the difference between Category 1 and Category 5? +

Category 1 is an annual safety inspection that includes visual examination and operational testing. Category 5 is a more comprehensive inspection required every 5 years that includes witnessed testing of safety devices like governors, safeties, and buffers under full load conditions.

What happens if my elevator fails inspection? +

If deficiencies are found, we'll provide a detailed report of issues that need to be addressed. Minor issues may allow for continued operation with corrections required within a specified timeframe. Serious safety violations may require the elevator to be taken out of service until repairs are made.

How long does an elevator inspection take? +

A Category 1 inspection typically takes 1-2 hours per elevator. Category 5 inspections take longer—usually 2-4 hours per elevator—due to the comprehensive testing requirements. We work to minimize disruption to your building's operations.

Do I need to have my elevator maintenance company present? +

For Category 1 inspections, it's helpful but not always required. For Category 5 inspections, your maintenance company should be present to operate the equipment during witnessed testing. We can coordinate scheduling with your maintenance provider.

What certifications do your inspectors hold? +
