Command vs PM Suites

Command vs PM Suite Compliance Modules

Yardi, MRI, and Building Engines run your properties. Here is why their task modules are not a local law requirement engine, and why the two work better together.

The Short Version

Property management suites like Yardi, MRI, and Building Engines (a JLL company) are excellent at what they are built for: accounting, leasing, rent rolls, and portfolio-wide work orders. Many owners assume compliance is covered because the suite has a task module and a document library somewhere in the contract.

In practice, building compliance is a jurisdiction problem, not a task problem. The suite can hold a reminder that says "facade inspection," but it does not know that your block number puts you in FISP sub-cycle 10B, that your boiler report is due 14 calendar days after inspection, or that LL126 added an annual parapet observation in 2024. Insparisk Command exists for exactly that layer: a requirement engine that knows what each building owes, when, to which agency, and what the penalty is for missing it.

Command is not a replacement for your PM suite. It is the compliance system of record that runs alongside it, starts free, and is built by a company that performs these inspections every day.

Which Setup Should You Pick?

Suite-only makes sense if you:

  • Operate in jurisdictions with light compliance burdens
  • Have a compliance team that maintains its own deadline research
  • Prefer one vendor for everything, even where modules are generic

Adding Insparisk Command makes sense if you:

  • Own buildings in NYC or other heavy-regulation jurisdictions
  • Have been fined, or nearly fined, because a local law deadline lived in nobody's calendar
  • Want a dedicated compliance system of record without an enterprise implementation project
  • Want the option to book the actual inspections from the same platform
